Mercedes is a freelance video editor and videographer based in Portland, Maine with experience editing both documentary and commercial projects. Mercedes studied anthropology and sociology at Umass Amherst. Her studies centered around perspective shifting; stepping back and questioning all of the things in society that we take for granted.
Her first documentary editing project, Peace, Love & Zoo, won Best Documentary at Emerge Film Festival in Auburn Maine. The film was also selected at the Sanford International Film Festival, ITVFest, Reel Recovery Film Festival, Around Film Festival, and the Impact Doc Awards. A short film about Maine Huts & Trails which Mercedes shot and edited also won first place in the Maine Outdoor Film Festival’s amateur film contest.
Mercedes brings her skills as an editor to projects ranging from music videos to short social media videos to feature length documentaries. She views her work through an anthropological lens - stepping back, observing, and allowing her subjects tell their story in their own words.
